Okay i have alot of catching up to do with y'all. mmk...what first, I went on a bunch of school excursions these past few weeks. After school last wednesday we went to see a play called Kindertransport. It was about this german girl who was growing up during the holocaust. she was sent to london to live with this lady for a few months untill her parents made it london after they had jobs lined up. but of course the war broke out and the girl was left to live in london with this lady. then it had a new actor playing the same girl but it was the teenage version. a lot had happened since then. the girl could now speak english and her accent was gone. the lady had adopted her. then secretly the girl met up with her old mother who had just gotten out of the holocaust camps. her father had died in a gas chamber. The girl didnt want to get to know her old mother, though her mother asked her to go with her to live in New York with some other family. The girl told her no because she felt that she was at home in london with her new mother (very sad i know) and then the girl was an adult and she had a daughter who was about 20 something, she didnt know anything about her mothers heritage and she was also leaving home. untill sh found a box with all of her mothers old stuff from when she lived in germany. questions were asked and all this crap happened... emotional stuff. AND if your confused now wait till i tell you how the play really went.. it was all of that stuff i just said but it would jump from the past to the future. sometimes the past characters would be on stage at the same time as the future characters... its hard to explain. the play was very surreal and disjointed.. in a good way. i really enjoyed that night. me and my friend bought 20 mcnuggets each. THATS 40 NUGGETS! it was fun. except for the fact that our teacher disided not to drop us of in our home towns but instead take us back to the school... mind you this was at 11:30 at night. so every had to ring the parents to come pick us up. and i can tell you that my mum was shitty. all the parents were but still somehow my teacher got away with it..

Okay... the next morning i had a Visual Communication excursion to see to designers. Plus you should probably i know that i hate my viscom teacher. she is a crazy bitch! anywho the first designer was at a studio somewhere in melbourne.. i cant recall. anyway there company is called house mouse. it seemed pretty cool. there stuff seemed a little dull. it was bright and modern but i looked like they just used clip art for half the stuff they did. there was this really nice guy there who was a graphic designer. he seemed the most creative experienced guy there. so i liked him (something to look up to ya know?). Then we made our way to Richmond were we saw the next designer. she was more creative but she did floral patterns.... yuck... she mad bags and stuff and according to my viscom teacher she is famous. i didnt really listen to her. her house smelt like she was cooking vomit in a sandwich maker. she asked if anyone had any questions so i piped up and said "how many of those A4 sketch books do you think you go through a year?" ya know what she said? one every two years! ONE EVERY TWO YEARS!?!?!?!?! i was like WHAT i go through like 30 once a year. so yeah i didnt like her stuff or her company.

And the last exursion was today. It was another viscom excursion. We went and saw top design which is all the top viscom folios from last years viscom year 12s. It was a bit of a let down actually. There was this one girl. she had alright art but i looked like she had been spending a bit to much time on DA cause it was very DA/emo like. there was only one that i rally like and it was this girl who did a bunch of vector stuff. it was awesome. And my teacher (the crazy bitch one) just left me and my other friend at the museam. we were like stressing trying to find her and the security peolpe came up to us and just said that she already left and to meet her at the station. Luckly me and my friend know our way aroung the city or we would have been screwed.

anywho im sure there was more stuff then that but meh.
later days
-Tom

WOOOO...
Your teacher sounds like an idiot.
My art teacher is a bit like that but she pretty much lets me get away with murder.
She also lets me play with scalpels... Never trust me with sharp objects.

wow that sounds like fun,....
and i was just reading about the kindertransport in history like 3 classes ago.. if you want to know more about it there's a book called 'Into the Arms of Strangers - Stories of the kindertransport' by Mark Jonathon Harris and Deborah Oppenheimer. I've only had time to read the introduction thanks to the colossal amount of reading i have to do for IB history and english but my history teacher has read it and it sounds really good. The whole book is a series of different case studies on children in the kindertransport.
Oneof the stories that struck me was of a girl who was transported to London, and spent everyday door knocking to find someone who would hire her parents she would rake her mind to list all the good qualities they had. By the time someone said they would her father was dead and her mother so devastated that she didnt even know how to boil an egg. Luckily the women who had hired her as a domestic servant wasnt a bitch and taught her how to do that and all the other household chores.
And children sent from Germany were accompanied by an adult - who was under strict orders to return, even though it was likely they would be gassed - as far as my knowledge not one deserted because if they did the kindertransport would no longer be allowed to go ahead.
Many of the Jewish people sent their children to places where they knew they would lose their heritage just so they could survive. It was quite heartbreaking just to read the introduction, but also uplifting because the kindertransport was done generally out of the kindness of others.
Anyway i should really stop writing and do more work.. just thought i'd tell you a little of what i learnt cos i got excited that i knew stuff about the kindertransport.
:)

Um.. cool. Sounds great. and yeah the little girl in the play went door to door looking for jobs for her parents too. It sounds really interesting though we have to take note more of the acting techniques used not so much the story. but still its interesting to know this. We talked to the director and some of the actors after the play and they mentioned something about a movie that was the bases of the script. I too would probably read it but i also have a hugmongo amount of homework to get done.
